Combined Tax Vs Single Tax

In Teesom there are two types of tax codes, combined and single.

  • A single tax code houses one rate.
  • A combined tax code houses multiple single tax codes and adds them together.

In this article we will explain the difference between them, how to create them and how they work on orders.

The Sales Tax List

You can view, create and edit your tax codes from the “Company Setup” screen:

  1. Go to the “Main Menu“.
  2. Select “Company Settings“.

On the “Company Setup” screen:

  1. Click on “Lists“.
  2. Expand “Sales Tax“.

Under “Sales Tax” you can:

  1. Click on “New Tax Rate” to create a new tax code.
  2. Click “Edit” on an already existing tax code to edit the rate.

Single Tax Codes

Single tax codes are tax codes that house a single rate. (e.g. State tax, City tax, County tax.)

Using a Single Tax Code On An Order

On the order you can:

  1. View/change the sales tax being used on the order.
  2. See which items are being taxed or not. (You can also change this by clicking on the green “TAX” box or gray “NON” box.)
  3. See how the total amount is affected based on which code is in use.

Combined Tax Code

A combined tax code houses multiple different single tax codes.

Using Combined Tax On An Order

On the order you can:

  1. View/change the tax code being used.
  2. See which items are being taxed or not. (You can also change this by clicking on the green “TAX” box or gray “NON” box.)
